Program Description
ASI’s Gray home can be found nestled onto a peaceful, minimally traveled street in picturesque Gray, Maine. This home’s location is within walking distance of Walgreen’s Pharmacy and Marden’s retail store. Nearby are several options for grocery/retail shopping, banking, churches, local eateries, and many opportunities for activities of leisure such as the Maine Wildlife Park and State Parks for swimming, fishing and walking.
The Gray Home is a Level I licensed program that meets all Home and Community-Based Standards of Care practices. It is designed for two individuals who have been diagnosed with intellectual disabilities who may require a higher level of support for health and safety due to physical disabilities, limitations and behavioral needs.
Individuals in this home have their own private bedrooms which they are encouraged to decorate according to their personal tastes. The common area includes an open concept living room and kitchen area. Comfortable living room seating and a pub-style kitchen dining area promote social gathering and interaction during the day. The shared bathroom is equipped with a walk-in whirlpool tub/shower combination. Outside living and activity space adds to the home during seasonable weather. The house is also equipped with a ramp for easier access.
The individuals living in this home work on a variety of independent living skills, and safety skills and participate in numerous activities of community inclusion. Every plan of care is designed to meet an individual’s unique needs. Staff can assist individuals with medication management, activities of daily living: cooking, cleaning, physical care, hygiene, leisure activities, shopping, community activities, attending religious services, and organizing/coordinating outside service provider appointments, day programming services, and guardian visits.
ASI provides different agency wide activities throughout the year for all to join in such as bingo, Art Classes, holiday celebrations, cooking challenges (Chopped and Chili Cook-Off) and our annual Health and Wellness Day. The Gray home also plans group outings for individuals living at this program as well as being known for hosting several group activities at the home such as BBQ’s, potluck lunches, outside game days, and the occasional party.
ASI-NE’s mission is to support people to experience meaningful lives by providing assistance with all aspects of daily living, health management, community integration, and safety monitoring with an individual, person-centered approach.
