Program Description

New Gloucester

The New Gloucester home is located in New Gloucester, Maine.  The growing community of New Gloucester is rural and boasts scenic views throughout the year.  The home is within a short driving distance to Auburn or Gray. They are also close to a pharmacy, several grocery stores, banking, shopping, churches, a campground, local eateries, and the Maine Wildlife Park. Also, close by are school and town recreation areas.

This program is licensed as a 2-bed level I program and meets all Home and Community-Based Standards (HCBS). The home is designed for three individuals with intellectual disabilities that require a mid-level to high level of support. People that live here have their own private bedrooms which they are encouraged to decorate according to their personal tastes.  The common area includes a spacious open-concept living room, kitchen and dining area. Comfortable living room seating promotes social gathering and interaction during daily living.  There is a deck off the living area with comfortable furniture to enjoy the outdoors. The shared bathroom is equipped with a tub/shower combination.

Individuals in this home are working on a variety of safety skills and being part of their local community. The direct care staff assists individuals with building skills in the areas of social skills, community inclusion, being good neighbors, medication & behavior management, cooking, shopping, budgeting, cleaning, attendance at religious services, leisure activities, day program services, and provider, family or guardian visits.  Each plan is crafted with the treatment team and the individual’s input to be unique to their needs and goals.

In addition, ASI provides different activities throughout the year for all to join such as cooking classes, bingo, and game afternoons. We sponsor agency-wide events such as cooking competitions (Chopped or Chili Cook-Off), Annual Wellness Day Event, sporting events, art classes, and other fun activities to participate in as desired.

ASI-NE’s mission is to support people to experience meaningful lives by aiding with all aspects of daily living, health management, community integration, and safety monitoring with an individual, person-centered approach.
